Coffee time at Rove City Centre

Rove City Centre quite simply oozes funky! This 3-star boutique-style accommodation was built in 2016 and has earned a well-deserved place in Dubai’s hotel portfolio for affordable cool.

I had a top experience staying at Rove City Centre so it comes as no surprise that an aggressive rollout of new venues is planned in the next few years, even into the 4-star and 5-star market. So how was my stay at Rove City Centre in Dubai?

WHY STAY AT ROVE CITY CENTRE

Where is Rove City Centre?

Rove City Centre can often be overlooked as it is situated on the less glamourous side of Dubai but I think it is one of the best locations in the city. It is just a short walk from Deira City Centre and Dubai Creek, so you can explore the history and UAE culture in Old Dubai literally on your doorstep!

Rove City Centre is right by the Metro making this easily accessible to the new and old town. Are you coming from the airport? That’s close too! A journey of fewer than 10 minutes is music to your ears after a long flight, right?

Warm Welcome to the Rove City Centre

As I stepped in from the sweltering heat of Dubai, the big smiles from reception and cooling down by the AC were both welcome. The check-in was swift with all you need-to-know explained clearly. I love the fact all guests are called Rovers – you feel like you are part of their community.

The signature decor in the Rove City Centre is quirky, modern, and retro. We were directed towards our hotel room, the corridors and lifts were branded with murals featuring local landmarks. Everywhere you look there is fun things to feast your eyes on.

Tranquil Rooms at Rove City Centre

The Rove City Centre has 270 non-smoking rooms over 9 floors. Our room was clean and modern with a touch of the Rove embellishment on the walls to bring a little cheer to our stay.

All rooms offer free WiFi, air-conditioning,  iPod docking station, sofa bed, desk, LED TV, and tea/coffee-making facilities. If you wonder why you’ve had a tip-top sleep, the rooms are sound-proofed and have blackout curtains. Happy days!

The white en-suite bathroom was simple and functional. The most important aspects for me were covered; the bathroom was spotless, the shower was powerful and hot, the mirror was a decent size for two people, and the toiletries were refillable bottles reducing unnecessary waste. Big thumbs up from me!

Rove Hotels support #Green

The hospitality industry can be a single-use plastic and throwaway culture so I always try and look at how hotels I stay in approach this. I was pleased to discover, Rove Hotels are part of the Green Key Initiative, a standard of excellence for the tourism industry that aims to achieve a more sustainable and eco-friendly operation in hotels around the world.

Rove Hotels are covering all areas of energy saving, waste reduction, water-saving, and recycling. So there are elements you see such as biodegradable takeaway containers and #stopsucking no straws campaign (or paper alternatives). Then there are the efforts you don’t see such as compostable food waste and energy-efficient kitchens and lights. Dine at The Daily Cafe

This was the final stop on our UAE road trip exploring Khor Fakkan and the city of Sharjah, we were ready for our final food blow-out before the diet started again! When we heard about the crazy brunch deal of 250 AED for 2 people, how could we refuse?

The Friday and Saturday Bench Brunch at The Daily included a gut-busting sharing plate followed by the main course, dessert, and a non-alcoholic drink! Now I understood why it was so busy yet still had a relaxed atmosphere. We finished up with a couple of quiet beers before retiring to watch a movie in the room.

The breakfast at Rove City Centre was another awesome deal of 99 AED per couple so we had the full package (the diet did start again the next day, honestly)! The breakfast starts at the ungodly hour of 6.30am and finishes up at 11.30am for the not-so-early birds.

Take your pick from the Arabic Mezza or Continental Platter PLUS something delicious from the kitchen, I struggled to decide between Shanshuka and Banana Pancakes. This indulgent deal also includes a hot beverage or juice, and there are options for gluten-free, keto, and vegan diets.

I was pretty content eating at The Daily, not just for the pocket-friendly deals but the staff was attentive, engaging to talk to, and came to your table with a big beaming smile. It’s just a really friendly place!

NOTE: Food deals will always be open to change so best to check before you rush on down there! CLICK for all the latest dining offers at The Daily

Leisure Time at Rove City Centre

So you’ve done the tourist thing to the max, how can you kick back and enjoy some leisure time at Rove City Centre?

We have a lovely morning beside the outdoor pool which was surprisingly quiet considering it’s fairly busy with traffic on the roads down below. With enough sun loungers and umbrellas to go round, a menu for refreshments, a lovely pool for a dip, and the sun beating down, I was happily in chill-out mode!

If this sounds too relaxing for you, there is an on-site 24-hour fitness centre with a great array of machines for cardio and strength training. They say “no pain, no gain” but I stuck with being horizontal at the pool. Everyone needs a day off! I made some time for table tennis and space invader computer games though – definitely a good way to keep the kids (big and small) occupied.

More at the Rove!

Rove City Centre offers free self-parking and an airport shuttle is available for an additional fee.

It is super handy to have a 24-hour convenience store on the lobby level of the hotel where you could pick up your favourite snacks at any time of the day.

There’s easily accessible locker space safely guarded by lock and key, and a big yellow camel, of course! Even if you don’t need the lockers, you can sit and do the wallpaper word search to pass the time!

Rove Hotels are doing some awesome deals for longer stay monthly accommodation that are well worth considering. I got chatting to a guy in the lobby who gave up his rented accommodation in Dubai to take advantage of these prices. Thankfully, there is a laundry room for hotel or self-service.

Rove City Centre for Entrepreneurs

For freelancers and digital nomads, Rove City Centre have set up comfortable co-working spaces with unlimited drinks deals, fast Wi-Fi, and meeting room usage. It’s definitely a popular place for budding entrepreneurs to hang out.

As an expat working in Dubai, I was lucky enough to hold a speaker event at Rove City Centre. We were totally looked after by the team before, during, and after the event.

Was I a happy Rover?

It’s a big YES from me! Rove City Centre really does cover all basis so whether you are on a leisure or business trip, need longer stay accommodation or business facilities – they have it all!

The staff are clearly happy in their job – it shows! I applaud Rove Hotel’s eco-friendly efforts to look after our planet. Being a creative girl, I love the quirky decor. You really can’t argue with the affordable prices for a clean, friendly, and cool hotel. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Rove Hotels!
