One of the fastest and most fun zip line experiences to do on the Big Island of Hawaii is located at the Hamakua coastline on the Umauma Falls zipline experience. Going through a variety of canyons traversing Uma Uma canyon and the gorgeous waterfalls is really the highlight of doing this fabulous tour.  You go through beautiful and lush countryside, canyons, waterfalls, and even wonderful ocean views from above on this entire experience.

The zipline experience goes through 9 long lines and 14 waterfalls in total. You take a van uphill through lush grassy terrain and at the first point on top, receive a variety of training lessons with an easy start on the first two ziplines before they become more challenging and then traverse through the canyons and waterfalls below.

After the tour, you can walk around the grounds or even upgrade to a waterfall tour or ATV rides in the rest of the property grounds. The Umauma experience is worth the effort for the fun and scenery you’ll have on this zipline tour.

It really is an exhilarating experience passing quickly through these lush rainforest canyons at really fast speeds but with a lot of safety in mind.

The Umauma Falls experience is located on the Hamakua coast at Umauma Falls which is about 15 miles west of Hilo town. Getting to the falls can be done on a tour or you can drive yourself on the wonderful coastal drive skirting the beautiful Hamakua Falls. Xplor Park Zipline | Mexico

Catalina Island Zipline | California

Catalina Island, just off the coast of Southern California, is a top vacation destination for both California locals and tourists alike. Avalon, the main port city, has a small-town feel and is just about an hour’s boat ride away from Long Beach, California. How To Reach Catalina Island Zipline

Catalina Island can only be reached by boat, and, once on the island, pretty much everything touristy is within walking distance of central Avalon. The zip line starting point is near the Descanso Beach Club, which is about a 10-minute walk from central Avalon.

World-Manitou Springs | Colorado

How To Reach World-Manitou Springs Zipline

The zip line location is an easy drive just outside of Colorado Springs.  Once you arrive, you are greeted by staff from Adventures Out West, and they whisk you up the hillside in their 4-wheel drive vehicles to the zip line course.  You receive a safety course and your safety equipment before embarking on your first jump off the side of the canyon. 

Branson Zipline | Wolfe Mountain, Missouri

Branson Zipline at Wolfe Creek Preserve which is just 7 miles north of Branson on US 65. It is a perfect place for some of the premier Eco-Adventure experiences for all ages from 7 to 90. The tour begins with 10-minute guidelines for Zipline safety, once the participants get comfortable with the guide, they are taken from Wolfe Creek Station to the top of Wolfe Mountain.

How To Reach The Branson Zipline

This zipline is 7 miles from Branson towards the north of it on the US 65 highway. You can take a flight to reach Springfield Mo airport from where one can take a cab. From Branson renting a car or shuttles is also an option.

A very unexpected and thrilling zipline can be found in Ocala, Florida at Zip the Canyons. This is truly a unique experience because the terrain is nothing like what you’d expect to find in Florida. There are two canyons and four spring-fed lakes and the ziplines go through and over all of it!

The zips are as high as 155 feet and reach up to 1,100 feet long. The Big Cliff Canyon Tour has 9 ziplines, two sky bridges, and a rappel from the last platform. The scenery is breathtaking! Zipping through the canopy is quite spectacular because the trees are so lush and green. The tour takes about 2.5 hours and at the end, you are handed a certificate and you have a chance to buy photos that are taken during the tour.

We loved this zipline because the landscape was so different from what you normally see in Florida.

Getting to The Canyons is easy to do. It’s just outside of town and has plenty of parking. Also, if someone in your group doesn’t feel comfortable ziplining, The Canyons also offers horseback riding, wine and chocolate tours, and kayak tours.

Gatorland Zipline | Florida

Not the longest zip line experience nor the fastest but for a different thrill check out the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line at Gatorland in Florida. The uniqueness and highlight of this zip line ride are flying over pools of alligators and crocodiles, including the Alligator Breeding Marsh at the end—where your dangling feet are closest to the 130 giant gators below. You will want to tuck your legs.

The highest Screamin’ Gator zip line platform is 65 feet high, the longest line is 500 feet, and the top speed is over 30 MPH. There are five total zip lines and one is handicap accessible. The $70 price to ride the zip line includes Gatorland admission. Look for discounted tickets from Visit Orlando and other sources.

Of course, I felt a little anxious zip lining across water with crocs and gators. But it was exhilarating.

Best Ziplines In Central America

Selvatura Park Zipline | Costa Rica

Selvatura Park is located in the high-altitude cloud forests near Monteverde in northern Costa Rica. This is a scenic, densely forested, and mountainous landscape devoid of large cities. There are 13 ziplines at Selvatura Park which start at a low height and length and gradually increase in difficulty. The final zipline, high above the cloud forest, is a staggering 1 kilometre long.

Visitors can spend the whole day at Selvatura Park as it also offers hiking trails, a butterfly and hummingbird garden, and hanging bridge walks.

‘Flying’ above such a rare, undeveloped eco system was an incredible experience made all the more special because I got to share it with my three children who completed the course with their own guide. It was an unforgettable highlight of our family trip to Costa Rica.

San Ignacio Zipline | Belize

San Ignacio is a town in the western Belize Cayo District that is popular among backpackers and travelers who want to experience Belize culture.

Surrounded by the lush jungle, San Ignacio is located a short drive away from the Guatemala border and offers quick access to some of the most beautiful scenery in Belize with waterfalls, caves, Mayan ruins, and crystal clear pools.

The easiest way to get to Nohoch Che’en is by renting a car at the airport in Belize City, however, you can also take a chicken bus, get off in Belmopan, and take a quick taxi to the entrance of the park. 

Barú Volcano Zipline | Panama

Located on an active volcano at 2400m above sea level and surrounded by lush green cloud forests in one of the most biodiverse locations on the planet, is the Barú Volcano zipline in the town of Boquete, Panama. This zipline is the only one in the world that is located on an active volcano, inside the Barú Volcano National Park.

The zipline consists of 8 lines, with stunning views of surrounding mountains, clouds, and on a clear day, views of the Pacific Ocean. Because of the high volcanic altitude, you have clouds right in front of you. It reaches a speed of up to 75 km/h and is 550m in length. 

I loved this zipline because of the stunning views, the unique volcanic setting and altitude, the pleasant 17C weather, beautiful cloud forests, and the fact that I was at such a high altitude that the clouds were both in front of me and below me.

How To Reach The Barú Volcano Zipline

To get to the Barú Volcano zipline, the company that runs the zipline (named Finca el Oasis) will pick you up in their private bus in the center of the town of Boquete in Panama. From there, you’ll be driven to the Baru Volcano National Park, where you will then enter the privately-owned Finca El Oasis Estate where you can do the zipline.

You can get to the town of Boquete by driving 6 hours by car from Panama City or taking a short 30-minute flight. Driving 6 hours by car from Panama City in your rental car is the recommended option (and it is what most locals do) as it’ll allow you to explore all of the beautiful Chiriquí regions, where Boquete is located.

Best Ziplines In South America

Mindo Zipline | Ecuador

Deep in the heart of the cloud forest in Ecuador, ziplining is easily the highlight of the many incredible activities in Mindo, the small adventure sports town nestled between the mountains outside of Quito. Mindo ziplines cut across the mountains high above the cloud forest canopy, and offer a fantastic chance for spotting hummingbirds and other exotic creatures along the way; plus, guides love pointing out features and you walk from line to line. Participants can choose between completing a circuit of 3 lines or 10 lines, with the 10-line circuit spanning over 3600 meters.

With shorter options for new or hesitant zipliners and a full 10-line circuit above the jungle canopy for the more adrenaline seeking, ziplining in Mindo is a must when visiting Ecuador, and an unforgettable way to experience this beautiful corner of the country.

How To Reach Mindo Zipline

Mindo is easily accessible from Quito by frequent public buses. Once in Mindo, the Mindo Canopy Ziplines tour office on the main road through this small town will help you register for ziplining and transport you by a pickup truck about 15 minutes through the mountains to the start of the lines.

Tobia Zipline | Colombia

There are several agencies around the small town of Tobia, Colombia where tours can be booked. The tour guides drive the group to a spot on the mountain where they must then make a short but steep walk to get up to the zipline. The zipline itself is approximately 200 metres high and has a length of 1200 metres, although it is 2 segments. It is also extremely fast at about 50 miles per hour, which is very fast when hanging from so high.

The view is absolutely stunning as the zipline crosses a river below where many enjoy rafting and it definitely gets the heart pumping!

How To Reach Tobia Zipline

The town of Tobia is 2.5-hour car drive from the capital of Bogotá, Colombia. However, if you’re taking a bus, it can take about 4 hours as the bus tends to make a few stops. Also, the bus drivers fill the buses beyond capacity so there are likely to be many people standing on all sides of you.

Rio Juramento | Argentina

Go zip-lining over the Rio Juramento, in the Salta Province of Argentina, and your future experiences with zip lines will be ruined as nothing will ever compare to that. While most people who visit this part of the country go there to enjoy the beauty of the Quebradas and the wine region of Cafayate, people in search of adrenaline will find what they are looking for. 

The zip lines over the Rio Juramento will give you the impression of flying and at quite a speed! There is a total of 9 zip lines. You will start with a shorter one for training, but the peak is 700 meters (2,296 feet) which goes from one side of the canyon to the other, flying 200 meters (656 feet) above the river. The views during the flight are incredible – provided you can keep your eyes open!

To add to the experience, you can join rafting expeditions and the Asado – a proper Argentine-style BBQ. The overall cost for a day of ziplining, rafting, and Asado, including transport from Salta, is $65. It’s a steal, considering what you get.
